Advice and welfare

For specialist advice about pets, farm animals and wildlife please go to the advice and welfare pages on the national RSPCA website for the most up to date information about animal care.

American XL Bullies

The UK Government has now confirmed that American Bully XLs will be added to a list of dogs which are banned in England and Wales with effect from 31 December 2023.  We understand this is hugely concerning and upsetting for owners, as well as animal welfare organisations like ourselves.

The RSPCA is opposed to this ban, which we don’t believe is effective in protecting the public.  We do not agree with the legal definition of an American Bully XL announced by the UK Government but we must comply with the law and we are committed to supporting dog owners as we await more information.

Bird flu

Please DO NOT pick up any dead or visibly sick birds.

Please follow the below link to the national RSPCA website for more advice on what to do with sick or injured birds.
