Grey and Chan - The Purrfect Match!

21st Jul 2011

Our longest stay cats are desperate for a new home after being with us since September last year. Grey had been living in a stable with lots of other cats, most of which were ferals. At some point Grey has lived as a pet but was abandoned leaving her to fend for herself. This has made Grey became very unsociable. Over the months she has stayed with us Grey has begun to regain her trust in humans.

Chan is a very sweet and affectionate old boy. He had also been living with lots of other cats in a home with an elderly owner who just couldn’t cope. Unlike Grey, Chan is very sociable with people and absolutely loves cuddles even after going through the trauma of having to have his eye removed.

Once it was decided that Chan and Grey should meet, it was love at first sight! Despite Chan’s advancing years, lack of teeth and only having one eye, Grey thought he was fantastic and later on that day the pair were cuddled up in bed together.

The pairing has had a good effect on both cats. Having a younger woman about the place has put a new spring in Chan’s step and he is much happier and active now. But the bigger effect has been on Grey. Because Chan is very tame and enjoys the company of people, Grey is learning from his example and her progress has been brilliant. Although Grey doesn’t yet enjoy being stroked she is beginning to tolerate it. She is now showing interest in what people are doing instead of hiding at the back of her pen.

Grey and Chan are both so much happier for finding each other but they now need to find a home with an owner who can love them too. Grey depends on Chan so much that we would prefer them to go home together. Chan being slightly past his best before date and Grey being so illusive and suspicious they are both difficult cats to rehome. But together we hope they will capture somebody’s heart and find their forever home.
